Mr. Durakiewicz is responsible for overseeing the entirety of the distillation process as well as developing and implementing new distillation projects.
Could you tell me when and how you came to work in Polmos Siedlce?
17th of July 1978.
How is that that you are so certain of the date?
Because two years before I was married on the same date.
And were you distilling vodka before you came here?
This was my first job after graduating and working in the army; however, in my private life, I was connected to alcohol distillation.
How did the idea of Chopin Vodka come about? Is there a story behind it?
As we already had very good vodka, we were looking for a name that would be recognizable around the world. Chopin was created in 1993 and quickly moved to the United States, Finland, and other countries.
People have credited you as being the father of luxury vodka – a vodka category which has changed the industry. Do you feel that this is a fair representation?
This is true. Not only in Poland but worldwide. Chopin was and is the first brand that created the category of super-premium vodka. There wasn’t anything like this before Chopin.
Is there a distillation that you are most proud of?
I do everything from my heart, so I am proud of everything that I make.
